We had a fun day out at the farm Saturday. We’ve had some trees harvested off the farm this past week and we mainly went out there to check on the work that has been done. After checking everything out, we decided to do a little fishing. We caught several bass, and a few perch. Most bass were around the two pound make with the largest being just shy of six pounds. Of course, the only picture I took was of the largest bass, and my cousin caught it, so no points there.

We decided to go sit over one of the feeders that’s still going and see if any pigs would show up. We were in the stand for about five minutes before a group of about thirty showed up. My cousin had his deer rifle and I had my AR15. I let him take the first shot and I proceeded to fire until I couldn’t see them any more. He dropped his pig right in its tracks. I had two fall before they got out of the field. We decided to go after them because I was confident that I hit more. Just inside the woods we found one wounded. He was trying run, but he was hurt too bad. He went over the ledge down to the creek, and I caught up to him trying to make it up the other side. A couple shots from my pistol and he was done.

Another great trip to the farm!

Why do so many think wild hogs can’t be eaten? They are as tasty as any. Except for breeding boars. Kinda tough and will stink up your house. So cook outside if you want to try one.

I dont get it either why folks think you cant eat em. I tell them some head country and you can eat just about anything!
I have spoke with folks that will just leave them in the feild i never did understand that. I have a cousin that will catch them with do and sale them to these goofy ranches for goobers to pay $600 and shoot them hes made more than a couple bucks doin it.

A lot of people have been told that they’re no good to eat, and take it as law. They’re afraid to try it for themselves. Not much better that smoking a whole pig about 50lbs! We would through one on the pit after the morning hunt, and it’d be ready after the evening hunt.
