    He Survived!!!

I pulled/replaced the camera cards and batteries yesterday and refilled feeders, and when I checked the cameras again today, I found this buck that my son and I hunted. He survived but broke off 9 points, and it appears he probably lost a hundred pounds. I’m really excited to see the headgear he’ll grow this year.

Wow! He must have really went to war when the rut hit. Did he completely disappear for awhile? The deer around here have been ganged up on every wheat field that's got good green to it. They don't even look up if you slow down or stop to look at them. It's all about putting the lbs. back on.

Man did he lose some weight during the rut. But I guess when I was chasing does, I was a lot lighter than I am now.

I really dreaded the day I went "over square" (waist x length ratio) and I'm a 36 length! Thought it was a sad day waaaay back when I had to go from 32" waist to a 33". Now I refuse to go over 37", nope just won't do it, nuh uh!!!

I’m 6’2” and my jeans are 38”. If I get square I’m in trouble. I do have a bunch of new 34x38 that I’m determined to wear out even if I do pass out tying my shoes.

I sure hope you see him next year or better yet I want to see the buck that broke him up. Either way you’ve got something to look forward to.
