Your not alone. A lot of combiners cutting wheat put a hurt on the fawns. I've pulled a couple out of the headers and I know some others have as well.
Cutting the wheat/broam exposes the nests to avian predators I'm thinking they are too low for the headers on a combine to pick up but a swather cuts a whole lot closer.

The new season limits for turkeys is one tom per county for both the spring and fall seasons. You still can kill a total of three birds but in my opinion they should have lowered it to 2 birds.

Been a couple of years since I've killed a turkey. Called a bunch of them in though! Sat my wife about 20' in front of me once. She doesn't hunt but I just wanted to get her out in the spring. No guns taken. The jake I called in came up so close to her that she broke and had to stand up thinking it was going to peck her. She said the gobbles were so loud it hurt her ears.
I'm more interested in calling them in vs killing one. Sporting hunt I guess.

This last season had a lone hen fly off the roost and came into my decoys. Then she walked within 5 yards of me. She did this for about 15 minutes. I enjoy watching her .

Wild turkey is excellent table fare.

I took smoke on the turkey hunt several years back. While we didn’t get a bird, we had at one point 12-15 hens feeding around us. Even had some deer come blazing past us on the run.

Wild turkey is nothing like store or even farm raised birds.
