    Morel mushroom time

I was out setting fence posts yesterday on the river in the Amorita Byron area and came across a pretty decent patch of morels. The more I looked the more I found. Ended up taking 2 grocery bags full before I decided to leave some for somebody else or the turkeys, who ever finds them first. Thought about calling some of chefs I know in OKC and seeing if they wanted to by some but I think I'd rather enjoy them myself and share with people who I know enjoy them as much as I do. Tried to upload a pic but you know how that goes for me.

Well, the pic doesn’t show, but that’s a big batch of morels.
I got out Sunday and got a few. They are just starting here in Kay county.

The numbers I found were not many but they were some of the biggest I have ever found. We had a mess last night with baked potato, peas, and home made biscuits with butter. HEAVEN

My wife and daughter went looking this past week and found about 30 good sized ones. The found a LOT of seed ticks, too.

I don't understand why, but in the 5 spots we hit before finding any shrooms we didn't get a single tick. Walked miles in some terrain that had us on hands and knees.
