How to get a tick checked for free

I stole this from another forum, but thought it was important enough to post here. If you get a tick on you, save it and send it to this scientific project. They will email you back and let you know what kind of tick it is and if it is diseased.
I have Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever a few years back. Caught it early and got it taken care of but it sucks the life out of you for awhile.

Well nice timing, last Thursday I had to go into the doc's cause I was breaking out in red spots all over. Got tested for strep, which was negative, so they assume it's a tick borne illness. Antibiotics for 10 days and reduce sun exposure. Worst of all no whiskey while on treatment. (insert sad face here)
America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards.
