    Well Who'da Thought

If y'all remember earlier this summer I had a round of some sort of tick fever, or so I thought. I've had swollen and painful lymph nodes ever since and finally went in to see the doc. Well, turns out that I didn't have tick fever and after a CT scan they have found a golf ball sized tumor on one of my kidneys purely by accident. My doc has hooked me up with one of the premier kidney cancer doctors in the nation at OU in OKC. Should be a fairly easy procedure since we've caught it early. Lesson learned, don't ignore what your body is trying to tell ya!

Oh damn. Same thing happened to my cousin. They thought it was his gall bladder and by shear accident they saw the lump on his kidney. Removed and he’s fine now.

Bet that was a shocker to hear. Catching it early is a great thing.

Well I got some weird news from the surgeon on my kidney tumor. Since it's really really close to the main blood supply to the kidney, he doesn't know if we can save the kidney. Won't know until they open me up and see. If it was anywhere else or if I wanted to just go ahead and have him remove the kidney, it'd be done thru a scope and a week or so recovery. Me being a aircraft kind of guy, I like having spares. So 3-5 day hospital stay starting the 18th and up to 6 wks recovery time. But, I'll have a cool scar on my side that I can tell folks I got during a bar fight in Mexico.
