It's twister time

This is a discussion on It's twister time within the The Tavern forums, part of the Oklahoma Hunting category; Golfball sized hail earlier in the evening, some hefty winds. I still like Gary England's acronym RFDD..............any guesses? lol...

Have a fried (adopted grandma to my kids) who is a Political Science Professer and PhD. Was talking to her this morning to make sure she made it through OK and got talking about storm chasing. Well one of her friends is a storm chaser for a local station she said so I mentioned how I've always wanted to do a chance and see a twister with my own eyes vs the aftermath of it. She said she would talk to him and see if I could do a ride along. I think that would be awesome.

Going back to the drinking game and things meteorologists say on air, did anyone watch David Payne on News 9 last night? In reference to a hook echo on radar he mentioned it looked like a mouth breathing in air, then he said "that mouth is open for business", almost immediately followed by a reference to a storm near Sharon, OK when he said "it's on top of Sharon right now! It's on top of Sharon!". My wife and I were cracking up. Maybe we're just kind of juvenile. lol.

We see those storm chasers around here pretty regular. Sometimes there will be a string of vehicles a 1/4 mile long.
Most are people just out for a joy ride.
