Went on the "fall" trout fishing trip that normally occurs during mid October when the Ozarks are in full fall foliage, but due to the overhaul schedule this year, and the coming deer season, this was the only week available.
Knowing it would be the best, we scheduled anyway, knowing that we would catch a few, but have a relaxing time anyway.
Got there on Monday, and got the boat and room rented. Went out monday, and spent the evening "matching the hatch".
Started Tuesday going to an area that a friend had been sucessful at the week before. I've never liked that area but "wasted" a 1/2 day there anyway.
Caught 10 trout there though. Most small.
Went to where we have been sucessful before, and caught about 30 in the 13 to 15" range. Some stockers, and some native.
Started raining from the hurricane aftereffects, and never quit. Wednesday, went to the trophy area, and caught about 30 in a driving rain that went to about 5 pounds for the largest. Great fun.......Catch and release.
They finally had to start flood control, and it died. We left Friday morning, 2 days early as at noon of Friday, they were gonna let it rip.
The bad thing about the whole deal...............We left the dammed camera at home..
