Anyone mowing yet?

559 Views 31 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  Freezypellets
Week ago Sunday I had to mow around my septic tank and barn. Last weekend I my allergies had me out of commission. So today I had replace my blades on the riding lawnmower so I could mow my backyard today. Last year I didn't start mowing until the last part of April. Now I have to get my weedeater going and weedeating is the only thing I don't like about yard work.

I mowed leaves is all Our grass is 2-3 weeks away.
I weed-eat with round-up.
I will have to spray broadleaf chemicals though. The henbit and dandelions are starting to grow.

I second the round up, weedeating isn’t for me. I have been putting it off but I don’t think I can wait another week. Guess I’ll start mowing both properties this Sunday instead of fishing on my day off.

Weed-whack weekly, or Roundup (glyphosate) every month to six weeks. I'm a glyphosate fan. I use the 41% stuff...not that weenie 18% or whatever Roundup is 😄. Bonus: it's cheaper too.

No mowing this last week, but I 2-4-D'd the heck out of my lawn two weeks ago...nothing but weeds until May.

I’ve mowed around my house here in east TX twice so far, and I’m also a fan of spraying herbicide vs weedeating.

Given the fact it was 4* last week, I don’t anticipate needing to mow my yard at my OK house on my April trip.

I still have a solid foot of snow and a fresh 2” from overnight. I also let the deer chow it down low as well.

I mowed the fescue in my back yard on Wednesday, the 15th. Thursday evening, the 16th, it was spitting snow!

I just got through mowing again, and I weedeated in preparation for spraying herbicide.

My Allegena can’t get here fast enough.

I weedeated around the front of the house and the barn. I also had to mow some again today before the rain hit.

No "grass height reduction" done here yet. All bermuda so just now starting to turn green in a few spots. Need to overseed soon. Glad I didn't before this rain or it all would've washed away. I figure we got 1/2" or more rain last night into this morning.

We pulled up a bunch of henbit and dandelions last weekend. Our grass is still dormant with the exception of along the curbs and driveway where it gets warmer.

I went fishing.
You could have called me to go. My wife would understand that fishing is more important than mowing.

We gotta get rain before I mow anything. Dealing with the worst drought conditions I have ever experienced. Lost lots of big bass and crappie in several ponds. Fighting the cattle bogging down in the mud trying to drink. May the black mold and mosquitoes carry off all of you getting rain. JUST KIDDING YA. I am envious though. Be thankful for the moisture if you are getting some of it.

Same here. Our older pond that has been stocked with bass up to 4.5 pounds years ago is only a foot deep now in the biggest part. I had a dozen come in for 5 hours a couple years ago and remove the silt in the upper end when it had been dry for a couple years, so when the main part dries up, all the fish will be in a trench about 50' wide and 100' long that will be 6' deep. When it gets hot, they will all be lost if we don't get rain.
