Already seen 4 bucks chasin does around here. Guess this cool weather has 'em moving more than normal. Ya'll think there might be an early rut this year?

Rut is set by mother nature according to the hours of sunlight.

That being said, I saw young bucks working scrapes in late Feb.
Maybe its kind of like the young bucks at the local bar....always on the prowl  ;D

Around my place, you'll see more rubs and scrapes appearing around late Dec and Jan than the "normal" rut. Guess it's the secondary rut but it's always been a good one, glad that we get to hunt on into Jan now.

Had 4 deer on my driveway this morning on the way to work. Doe with twin fawns that are just losing their spots, and a small forkhorn in velvet. I figured they would have the velvet rubbed off by now, but this one sure didn't.

I can say first hand that the rut ain't started yet. I was a buck chasing my doe last night and she wanted nothing to do with it. Might need some colder weather to set in before things change.

Saw a 2yr old buck yesterday, no velvet and really pretty rack for a youngun. Gonna be a real nice one in a year or two. He's hanging around 6 does that keep chasing my turkeys.
