Ok, offer accepted! Should be a quick process since there aren’t any inspections. Now I know where I’ll be hunting!
Congrats to you. We lost the place we were after. They took a cash offer instead.

Dang! You got other places you’re looking at?
Sadly not at the moment. Found a place about 15 miles east of here on 23 acres but it’s another $125k more than we’ve been looking at currently.
When the one we’re meant to get opens we will be ready and the good lord will be on our side.
plus I don’t wanna move during the winter and cold. Especially with the 22”+ of snow we’re expecting in the next 36 hours.

yeah I hear ya. I remember when we were really starting to look at houses over here why’ll we were still in Oregon. We were all looking into broken arrow and house after house fell through or got snatched up before we could get in. Ended up finding our place outside of Claremore and couldn’t be happier. You’ll get the right one I have no doubt

We don’t have any of the nasty vermin at the farms and I want to keep it that way.
Grant county was the last of the 77 counties to have a confirmed pig invasion, but the GW trapped the entire sounder and nothing has replaced them.
They are quite a few just south and east of you. Been after some over by nine mile road and Braden school house.

I know another guy that hunts the river on the South end of 9 mile road down to the old Peters school with a thermal, but they haven’t made it to our home yet. I keep waiting to get up some morning and have our lawn destroyed by them.
The armadillos, moles and gophers keep it pretty torn up already.

do any of you guys ever eat armadillo? I went down the YouTube trail but not sure if it’s something people actually do or if it was just to get views.

Actually some do eat armadillo. South of the border mainly but back when I was a kid, we visited my aunt and uncle in Beeville Tx. Dad, Uncle, and I went quail hunting in the mesquite brush.
Armadillos were running everywhere, so Uncle popped one and took it home to eat.
Basically gutted it, cut the meat out of the shell, seasoned it adding potatoes carrots and onion into a foil pouch.
Built a fire in the back yard and dug a hole next to it.
Once a bed of coals was built, the coals were put in the hole with the foil packet on top, then covered with dirt.
4 hours later, took it out and ate. I remember everyone commenting it tasted like pork.
Fast forward to today, I wouldn’t eat one of the nasty vermin unless starving. They do carry leprocy so if you kill one, use rubber gloves or something before touching it for disposal.

You mentioned south of the border and it reminded me of our neighbors/best friends back in Oregon. He was from Texas and told me he found an abandoned baby raccoon. His dad gave him permission to keep him so he took “Butch” to the vet and got his shots and everything and Butch ended up being like his dog for several years. No, he didn’t eat him lol. I think he just R-U-N-N-O-F-T

South of the border meaning the US border in Mexico where they eat armadillo's on a regular basis.
We had a friend with a pet racoon when I was a kid. That thing was a terrible pet. Actually, illegal to have one in Oklahoma now.
