BRADY CENTER ISSUES REPORT ON "ASSAULT WEAPONS" . . . Just in time for the elections, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence has issued a misleading report on so-called "assault weapons" dubbed "Mass Produced Mayhem." The report is an all-out attack on these basic semi-automatic firearms that function no differently than any other semi-automatic (only one shot is fired when the trigger is pulled). Despite the fact that these guns have been legally owned and lawfully used by civilians for over a century for target shooting, hunting, self protection and collecting, the Brady Campaign is intent on portraying them as machine guns used exclusively by criminals.
