Nocturnal Nightmare feeder

I put out one of these on the 4th of July weekend and put a game cam on it.
These feeders open and close via a regular timer. It claims that the deer will
come and eat only during the times it is open. I set mine from 7 am until 10:30 am
and then from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm or something close to that. It took about a
week, but I was really impressed on how the deer came to it and it only
used a 100lbs of feed in a month. I had 573 pictures of deer and raccoons with
it being mostly deer. Anyway, I was very impressed how it worked and how the
deer figured it out. Here is a series of pictures that the game cam caught of it
in the process of closing. The raccoons did find it also, but the deer do not seem
to mind feeding with them in it from the pictures I got.

Here is a picture of a doe and a fawn feeding at it.
I then showed a picture of a doe by it at night when it is closed.
I have dozens of these same examples except they stopped looking at
it at night after a couple of weeks. This is the same doe, but there were many
different does coming to it and also some bucks. Anyway, I was pretty impressed
with how it worked. Also added a picture of a buck at it.

I can assure you that deer and racoons will feast at the feeder at the same time. They seem to have an accord about it. I have one pic of 11 ***** and one doe on a feeder.
I just went to our local ace hardware shop. They want $8.99 for a 50lb bag of corn

Two years ago, it was 3.59

Thats in the bag. If you take your truck to a COOP they wiill drop it into the back for half of that.
check your pm's ;D
I replied to the pm's earlier this evening? Did you not receive them? :-\
I'll check back
I hear ya about the raccoons dennis, but had heard stories about
this particular trough feeder because the corn is in such a small area.
Have also heard stories about ***** getting locked in it when it closes. ;D
We were kinda curious about that also when we opened it today.

You never know what is going to be inside

i have discovered that the ***** can't get in my feeder when Carpet strips with the little tacks are zip tied to the legs of the feeder.
I've seen *****,deer & even a rattle blaster all at a feeder once.
What a combo .
Dennis, that is a heck of an idea. I'll be getting me some carpet strips soon.

It's a good thing skunks don't climb. :)

I have a real nice supply..... the little tube that fills the toilet tank got a hole in it about a week ago, and I have three rooms of carpet in the front yard getting ready to go on the burn pile. :'(
Well, I have renamed the nocturnal nightmare the **** killer!
Do the foggy bottom boys get any points for my feeder breaking the
neck of this poor ****! ??? It looked like he died quick when the lid
came down. I am glad I found him just one day after it happened!

A kill is a kill?
Did I see anywhere what caliber or weapon is required?? ::) ::)
Just kiddin' ;D Thats probably not a counter unless
Guage is in a charitable mood ;)
I was kiddin also, kinda sad really! Poor guy almost made it out.
Looks like it might be a drawback for this type of feeder.

Definatly not a draw back. ***** are one of the worst nest robbers of quail and pheasant. Or any other ground nesting bird.

Eveey time I see a **** on the road, I think of how many quail/ pheasant are still alive because of that. Then I steer in that direction ;) ;D
I agree Dennis, have you noticed that as **** hunting has decreased in popularity, quail populations have also fallen?
Still a bad way to go for any animal. I agree with you
all on the negative effects of *****.
The nest robbing is part of the way of the wild!
This feeder is not.

We were almost out of turkey around our house several years ago, when I started trapping *****, possums and skunks.
We have almost 75 now, and not very many ***** ;) ;D
