Well I finaly decided to go ahead and order my newest toy. I placed an order on a S&W 500 with 4" barel. I went into a local dealership I frequent and told them tha I have been doing some shoping around and really don't want to give my money to some bigger non local company but that they had a real good deal. He asked what they were asking. I told him what I had found. He said he would be happy to sell me one at that price if I was willing to wait a couple days for it. I didn't even have to put any money down for it. He went ahead and ordered it for me on good faith and a hand shake. You would not get that kind of deal at a big no face store. I always prefer doing business with the smaller shop and he was willing to get it at the price I was looking for. This gun is only going to cost me $1100 sugested retail for this gun is close to $1500. I get a great deal and the satisfaction that I get to help keep a small business in business. Hes throwin in a couple boxes of ammo to boot. Im gong to take Friday off from work and go get familiar with my new hand cannon. Then maybe Saturday I will go mountain lion hunting and have it as my back up gun, or maybe my primary. ;D

Sweet pistol, and you'll thank the gun gods that the end of that barrel has ports on it. The shorter snouts on those big handcannons does sit a bit harder into your hand when fired but it's nothing after you get use to the huge bang that comes when you pull the trigger. It'll put a big smile on your face!

That is a true hand cannon

I'm a recoil junkie in my pistols, but shy away from it in the centerfire rifles. Maybe thats why I always go for the hypervelocity rounds in the rifles that are selected.

??? ??? ??? Can't explain it ???

the scary thing about a 22 is it goes in and usually does not come out. You put a 22 round into someones soft spot like the throat temple eye nose etc and it goes in and bounces around sometimes when the autopsy is done the coroner finds the round in the louter extemeties like the feet and hands. Meanwhile the guts look like someone took a meat cleaver to them. So I would definately think a 22 in my face was a big gun. At least a 44mag, or 500 mag will make quick work of the intended target. I took out the 500 today. I loaded it up with some 275 grain bullets first. Me like. :) Then I put some 400 grains in. Me really like ;D . I put some freezer burned ribs out and made meat fly. I was standing 20 to 25 yards away when I fired it. The first round blew the ribs to pieces. I found meat chunks and bone matter scattered all over the place. Ill be glad to have this gun with me when I am out hunting bear and mountain lion.
