I am compelled to go on the annual family spring break cruise. I am okay with that. But tagged on the end of the cruise is 2 days in Orlando and Universal Studio's. I have been informed I don't have to go to Universal, but I am on my own for entertainment. I would rather not sit in a hotel room for two days, but would to avoid Universal.

If I were a hundred miles further south I would sign up for an iguana hunt. Checked Google for my sort of activities in the Orlando area and I see Florida bass fishing is a big deal in that area. supposed to be some big fish.

Has anyone here fished Orlando area?

Did you use a guide? If so do you have a referral?

Quite literally there is someone with the same question as you over on the 'Hide...unless that's you.

No real leads on that inquiry either.

3 hour drive down from Orlando to where the Iguana hunting is going on. 6 hour round trip for a 4 hour hunt.

Next cruise, I will express my wish for departing out of Fort Lauderdale an add a day on the end of the trip for an iguana. Should not be a hard sell, OKie Gal want to shoot iguana's also.

I'd avoid that woke disney facility myself. Go woke go broke.

I'd go with the saltwater fishing personally. I can catch fish about anytime around here, but the big fish are in the ocean. I'll be Red snapper fishing in the gulf out of Venice La in a few months.

Okay, 3 hrs each way would suck. 1 hour I'd have done it. If you end up with some extra fish and want to send home, let me know.

Sorry for the confusion - I thought this was a guy's trip and the wife was going to be at Universal Studios. My bad. I'd go for a peacock bass if possible. Heard they fight harder than any largemouth. But, with no pics, it didn't happen! :)
I can assure you peacock bass fight harder than largemouth. I got to fish for them in Venezuela in the late 80's while on a business trip to Caracas. Just shortly before it went commie. Crazy story.
I've watched some stories on YouTube about the peacock bass fishing in Florida. Mainly in the inland waterways that are fresh water. Most videos were in the Miami area. Hope some idiot doesn't transplant them into Okeechobee Lake to screw up the bass fishing.

The wife decided she wanted to go to Universal Studio's with the grand kids. So I am booking a half day inshore ocean fishing trip. Targeted fish will be snook, redfish, trout and tarpon.

Good wife, I'll tell you. She will enjoy Universal Studio's but would rather be with me. She decided to go with the kids, because she knows she will get seasick on the ocean in a small boat. This lets me go on the ocean side.

Excellent! Sounds like a win-win to me!
