The first gun I ever owned was a Rossi .22 mag/ 12g combo. I’ve never shot the .44 or any of the other rifle calibers they make. I’ve killed several deer with that single shot 12g (buckshot & slugs). My kids learned to hunt dove and ducks with that as well. Killed a few troublesome critters with the .22 mag.
Adding an aftermarket SIMS recoil pad was the cats meow with that gun.

The only Rossi firearms I have is a youth combo single shot in .22lr, .410, and a .45 caliber muzzle loader barrel. Won it at a QU banquet. The .22RF is the only barrel shot from that group.

I'm somewhat torn here. My very first gun was a Rossi 62 in .22LR that I can still remember dad getting for me after picking me up from Kindergarten. It works just fine to this day, and I have nothing bad to say about it.

On the other hand is a manufacturer that is known for making inexpensive copies of firearms...probably every bit as well made as a Taurus. Rough machining etc...

That means you may get a perfectly decent gun. However your chances of getting an issue are higher than with other manufacturers.

The Rossi .22 RF barrel would not close in the action. I had to use a fiber wheel on a 4.5" grinder to remove some material before it would close and reblue. The .410 and .45MZ worked great.

There is actually a Winchester (made in Japan) Model 92 for about the same cost- a little more. Better gun?
Much better than Rossi.

Miroku (the Japanese manufacturer) makes most (if not all) Browning shotguns and Winchester rifles, as well as their own line of firearms. They are considered to be a pretty good manufacturer.

I am no Miroku expert, but dad had a Charles Daley O/U made by them and it was pretty nice. The Browning Citori shotguns I've handled were decently made as well.

My Citori was made by Miroku. Very good fit and finish. The steel they use is very high quality as well.

There is one for sale on OSA. Asking $725 with 35 rounds of ammo. If Rossi is going to get that much money, wonder what my Marlin 336 would bring?

Can’t imagine paying that for a Rossi. Seen the Marlins priced around $800-$1k can’t see spending that either. Maybe I am out dated. You can get a Henry at that price if you like a tube fed

I’ve been lurking on OSA but have yet to join. Some of the stuff I read on there really keeps me from it. There are some that just go on and on and on like they argue with themselves. I haven’t seen anything posted for sale I couldn’t live without and it seems like nearly everyone on there complains about buying and selling or both at the same time. Maybe someday I’ll join the conversation. “Future ex wife” thread had me rolling my eyes when I thought this is what people see when they look up Oklahoma 2A forums ha great

A lot of gun sites lately are filled with guys who quote scripture on Sunday, but share titty pics on Monday. I don't get it, but guess that they have mean old ladies at home that check their browser history...otherwise they'd just visit porn sites. Don't want to get beat with a rolling pin I guess.

I'm probably the worst one on this site to blast out an overly blunt opinion, but I take zero offense in someone disagreeing with it. We all have different experiences. You can go onto a place like the Snipers Hide and find a 12 page thread...page 1 has useful (differing) opinions, page 2 has more forceful anecdotal evidence...and pages 3-12 are name calling and questioning the fidelity of each other's moms with various memes.

Man, I love the internet. 😆
