Dammit boy! I don’t want any part of that kind of snow, but I do like following along on your bear hunting adventures.
It’s all a part of hunting. Every spring it’s something new around here. Can’t help the fact we had one of the worst winters in a century. Hell I woke up to an 1” of snow yesterday morning. It all melted off by mid day. I’m outta town on a special detail for work for a few days and it’s supped to be 67 here today. I’m gonna sweat my ares off I’m sure.Hate hearing that Bullbuster we all know how much you look forward to this.
They certainly do and especially this winter. The freeways have closed down a dozen plus times for upwards of a week at a time. Many miles of roads and only a handful of plows.Thats a shame. I bet those snow plows get quite the workout with that amount of snow.
I would think in that part of the country that’s guaranteed to have a lot of snow on the roads that there would be more than TWO snow plows. That seems pretty ridiculous to me. 🤷♂️Well I got some bad news this morning. Got a call from the director of the county road and bridge department. Both rotary plows are down and in the shop. She said it could be the end of May before the road to bear camp is opened up. Might be be a spot and stalk spring vs baiting spring. I have until June 15th at least.
Rotary plows (giant snow blowers) are different than a regular plow. We have lots of blade snow plows but the rotary plows are what clear the huge drifts. My OP had pics where the drift I drove through had a channel cut through it. That’s done by a rotary plow. A regular blade plow is useless when the snow gets more than like 2’ deep.I would think in that part of the country that’s guaranteed to have a lot of snow on the roads that there would be more than TWO snow plows. I still contend that in an area where YOU KNOW there’s going to be major road issues due to snow and ice that there needs to be “enough” equipment to get the job done. Both machines broke down and not back in service for another month is a load of BS in my opinion.Rotary plows (giant snow blowers) are different than a regular plow. Not many taxpayers out there to support all the equipment needed to keep the roads clear.Gotta love small town life in a big county.
We are the county seat and biggest town at around 9k gun toting, bible loving AMERICANS and our city counsel plus county commissioners are as corrupt as those in DC.Not many taxpayers out there to support all the equipment needed to keep the roads clear.
That’s McCarty canyon aka Little Rawlins. Huge camping area for the deer and elk hunters who hunt the limited quota area north and west of it. You can make it another 3 miles or so past. The road is drifted over still right at road 500. That’s the gravel road that cut east to Saratoga. This is the last major drift they clear every year before opening the road. We just take the gravel road that goes up and around it.I know where those pics were taken. I peed in that outhouse!
Those are some huge drifts.
