Water Fisherman Fish Lake Recreational fishing
I

I wish I could post this video of the massive school of Sandbass and Drum I came upon this weekend. They were all headed up steam laying eggs. Hell of a find and hell of a trip!!This is out at tenkiller! It’s definitely time to “FISH ON” fellas. Holler at me. I don’t have anyone with enough gumption to get off thier ass to go catch FISH!! Who would have ever dreamed of telling a guy about good fishing and they don’t give a shit? Lol. Anyways. Might be will to let you tag along. Holler at me. Don’t need a boat.

Yeah, that sand bass run is fun and a hoot when they're churning up the water all around going after bait. Tenkiller is just too damn far from OKC area or I'd take you up on the offer! I love taking the boat there but has to be a 3 day weekend at minimum.

There were a ton of really nice Drum spawning (I assume?) as well. Both would be fun as hell to catch!

Drum are good eating too. People think they are a white carp and won't try them, but they have the meat like a striper, vs a crappie that is real flaky.
Ate a lot of them over the years. A little tough to fillet, as they have this weird bone around the rib cage, but it's doable.
The shad are spawning right now, and the blue cat are following the schools into the flats on Kaw. We are going out tomorrow to see if we can get into them.

Man that should be a blast! I’ve gotten to fish some flats this time of year! Good luck! I might have to try one of them drums just to see what it’s all about lol.

I’ve read different things online but what’s a good bait for drum? Not sure I can get any shade. My back is jacked up so can’t throw a net.

I’ve caught them on everything from rattle traps to night crawlers.
They fight like crazy for a few seconds, then kind of give it up.
When I was in the Army at Ft Leavenworth, it was tough times for the family. Go to the golf course at night to catch night crawlers, and fish in the Missouri River after work to get food for the table.
Drum were easy to catch, so that was a lot of our evening meals.

Thanks for the information. That’s quite the ordeal to figure out! Got to love what we can come up with when faced with hard times!

It was tough times, but it made me appreciate what one can do to get by if you want to on your own and not relying on handouts from others.
This country was founded by people who had to survive or die. It was that simple.
Yes, there are people who do need help, but we have a lot of free loaders that don't.

Latest reports are the mountain range passes will be open next weekend. Looks like I’ll be hitting the high mountain lakes later on in June.

Yes, sir I agree 100%. Not sure there’s any turning back now either. I just can’t think of how it can without war, and well once it gets to that point it’s all over anyways. Just isn’t right.
