This is what I did today.

Just a thread to post in what happened today.
I'll start.
Some of our RV friends that we have been travelling with for the last 7 years came up I-35 yesterday and stopped at the Tonkawa Casino RV park so we could get a visit.
It's been two years since camping with them in Colorado.
We met at the restaurant at the casino last night and they came to our home today.
We cooked up a nice meal, and visited for a couple of hours.
They live in Mercedes Tx, two miles from the Mexican border and are traveling to Canada for a wedding. Wife's nephew is getting married. Our friend's wife has dual citizenship. Canadian born, American citizen.

They are headed to Alberta Canada which as we all know Canada does not allow certain firearms in their country.
There are places that allow lockers to rent along the border on the US side where US citizens entering into Canada can put their guns and retrieve them later when exiting that country for a fee, which can be steep.
Just so happens, our friends destination does not have that locker access, so they called the North Dakota Sheriffs office to see if there was an alternative.
The Sheriff's office said they would store them in their evidence locker after taking pics and recording SN's.
They could retrieve them when exiting Canada. How cool is that?
He was kind of torn on this with the bad publicity about AR's in the recent mass shootings, so decided to leave them at home and just take a shotgun and pistols.

What did you do today?

Yesterday, I spent all day on a tractor piling brush and cleaning up at our old house we’re fixing to try to sell, mowing the yard there, and then mowing the yard here at the barn. It’s been hot and humid, and I ended up sweating through two shirts and felt like I pee’d my pants they were so sweaty. I’m already tired of summer, and it’s not even really here yet.

I fell into the rabbit hole of fly tying, so came out to the shop, turned on the AC, got the phone onto YouTube and started tying flies while watching the how to videos. Getting enough supplies to be able to follow these videos has been a challenge for me, and a boon for Amazon.
The next shipment will be here Wednesday of next week.
Tied a dozen mixed flies for a friend headed for Colorado this week. Otherwise just been trying different fly patterns.
This is the bench I set up to tie on.

Well today I vacuumed and mopped the floor. Then this afternoon I grilled hotdogs and burgers for about 30 which were kids and adults for my wife's nephew's birthday. So I had a fun day. 🫤

I got up and replaced the drive belt on my zero turn. So even though the yard was wet I mowed it and about another acre in the orchard that was a little overgrown since the mower had been sitting for a week and a half.

Bought my wife’s Mother’s Day card 😬😬😬. I procrastinated a bit.

Also bought a starter assembly for my tractor that decided to go out on me 🙄.

What's growing in the orchard? We had pear trees and peach trees, but old age and disease killed them, and we never replanted.

So I recently (two months ago) got a new job. It’s a route sales driver delivering chemicals. Certain chemicals carry a higher hazard class so with those I have to wear a non-breathable chemical suit. Bibs, jacket, goggles, and face shield. Monday was so bad I was nearly cursing my birth lol. Welcome to Oklahoma! 😅😅😅

just the pecans. Although I really want to plant some fruit trees. Although I’ve heard they bring a LOT more bugs.
Did you guys do any canning?

I pickle Asparagus is about all. Our garden days are over as we travel so much in the RV. Usually home in the spring when it's growing the most. That patch has been there for 33 or 34 years. Put it in the following spring we moved out here to the sticks. Used to have a really big garden that we vacuum sealed, or preserved by canning, but that has been done away with since retiring.

I’ve been working 12-16 hour shifts. Continuing to remodel the camper as I can. Been over a week since I had to shovel any snow so that’s a plus.

I went to the river today for some fishing. Rode the ATV across the sand bar to the honey hole.
Got a line out and looked South. There was a wall of water headed my way and I had 1/2 mile to get under ther bridge. Soaking wet on arrival.
oh well, it’s dry here and the beer is cold.

Yesterday my neighbor came over and asked if I’d seen his goat that escaped. Well, today the kids found it in the woods of the other neighbor’s place. So that took 30 min to catch that stinkin buckling that was far faster and agile than my fat butt. But I caught him finally and returned him. Got a six pack for my efforts 😂

Wife and I went to the movies tonight. Been over 5 years since I’d been tot he movies. Saw The Covenant. That was a great movie. I’d recommend it. For those who’ve been in theater and the sand box it can trigger some nerves.

Forgot that I did learn to tie some classic Clouser minnows today. Great bait for fresh or saltwater.

I can't do theaters. The last time I was at a theater is when my wife and I were dating 35 years ago. She dragged me kicking and screaming to watch Ghost.
Hated it as it was a chick flick. Previously to that, watched Gone With The Wind with a girl friend, my senior year in high school. It sucked too.
