This is what I did today.

Just a thread to post in what happened today.
I'll start.
Some of our RV friends that we have been travelling with for the last 7 years came up I-35 yesterday and stopped at the Tonkawa Casino RV park so we could get a visit.
It's been two years since camping with them in Colorado.
We met at the restaurant at the casino last night and they came to our home today.
We cooked up a nice meal, and visited for a couple of hours.
They live in Mercedes Tx, two miles from the Mexican border and are traveling to Canada for a wedding. Wife's nephew is getting married. Our friend's wife has dual citizenship. Canadian born, American citizen.

They are headed to Alberta Canada which as we all know Canada does not allow certain firearms in their country.
There are places that allow lockers to rent along the border on the US side where US citizens entering into Canada can put their guns and retrieve them later when exiting that country for a fee, which can be steep.
Just so happens, our friends destination does not have that locker access, so they called the North Dakota Sheriffs office to see if there was an alternative.
The Sheriff's office said they would store them in their evidence locker after taking pics and recording SN's.
They could retrieve them when exiting Canada. How cool is that?
He was kind of torn on this with the bad publicity about AR's in the recent mass shootings, so decided to leave them at home and just take a shotgun and pistols.

What did you do today?

Congrats to you caliberbob on the CDL. Lot different than back in the day when they just handed them out pretty much.

Is that a ruger? Looks like it could be a Blackhawk or vaquero. Love projects like that!

I honestly don't know. I will post later when I can look at it and see what the numbers on it mean. It was $25 so I bought it. I have been wanting to get a 22 revolver for a while.

Hard to tell in the plastic bag. Somebody take it apart and not know how to put it back together?

I don't know. My gun guy was busy so I didn't ask too much past "Are you positive it's not stolen?"😁

He assured me that he got rid of the stolen guns years ago.

This is it. The two screws don't fit any of the holes in the gun so I think they belong to a different gun. There was several sandwich bags with assorted gun parts so I think I got a couple bonus screws from one of the 25 semi autos or something.

Manufactured by Tanfoglio of Italy. Imported/assembled by Firearms Import and Export Corp, so there is a path to follow if you need parts to get it operational.
At best, it's a $200 firearm on the used market, so buy wisely.

I am hoping to get it going fairly cheap for a plinker/hunting carry gun.

I've got a couple cheapo .22 revolvers I use on the trap line during the winter. You don't have to worry about cycling the action with a revo using shorts.

We got our daughter graduated yesterday evening and were able to get all of our kids together for the first time in over a year. That’s our oldest son on the left, the graduate, our youngest son, and his beautiful wife. We were supposed to meet the oldest son’s girlfriend, but she tested positive for covid earlier this week.

I did the graduation thing also for one of my nieces. She's the 17th Murphy to graduate from dear old Shidler High. My youngest daughter will be the last when she graduates next year. Dang it takes a lot of food to feed our family and we were missing 9 more that couldn't make it.

I should have taken pics before and after, but today was tree cutting day. We had two blackjack trees that got infested by carpenter ants that eventually killed them.
One was angled to fall on the roof, so lifted buddy as high as the front loader would reach and tied off with a rope that was tied to the truck to pull it away from the house.
The plan worked, as the tree fell right where we wanted it. The other tree was angled to fall into the yard, so dropped it next to the other one.
Got both cut into firewood lengths, and loaded buddy's pickup with all it would take.
limbs put on the brush pile for the next burn day.
