That's pretty much the same recipe we use for meat balls. Although I've never used them on sandwiches.
We cook ours completely in the marinara, eliminating the frying process. It seasons the marinara even more, then we pour over spaghetti.
Made for sandwiches is on my list of things to make for dinner this week.

I'll take pics! By cooking them from the start in the marinara, they are more tender than when fried first.

Used Swiss cheese on the left one, and habenero cheese on the right.
Made extra meatballs and marinera sauce, so the next day just cooked some spaghetti, mixed it with the sauce and got two days of good eats.
