New design I've not seen. The ODW has sunk thousands of spider blocks using 1" poly pipe in lakes around the state.
Don't know how effective they are as I've fished them without much success.
This design is probably better as it offers more shade.
Certain shallow Fish orient to shade during the day. Others are open water roamers, looking for food.
Be interesting to see how they work.

When tenkiller got super low a couple of years ago I found some buckets that had a bunch of PVC sticking out and cemented in. Looked like some type of habitat structure. I wonder if that was by the state or some individual?
I’ve always heard to go dumb cedar trees out in the water for crappie cover.

You found what they call a spider block attractor. Anyone can build them and put them in lakes.
I’ve put cedar trees in lakes to create crappie habitat. They are good for a couple years, but then need to be replenished with more cedars.

Putting anything like in waters here is illegal.
i found a bunch of those spider blocks at Stanley Draper when it was really low and all the fishing docks were on dry ground. That was about 10 years ago.
