I went out duck hunting today. This morning while setting up my decoy spread I took a step that could have been fatal. I felt myself sinking real fast and my waders were taking on water. I was going under and I was not any were near the bottom of the pond yet. I was wearing a belt and that probably saved me. My belt prevented water completely filling my waders I was able to swim my way up and get to a solid footing. I got out of the water and dried off real quick and got back to spreading my decoys. Turned out to be a blu bird day. The few shots I did take were not succesful. But I made it home. And that is what matters most. All I can figure is I must have steped over an under water canyon, cause I went deep before I new what was going on. Well I lived to hunt another day. ;D Needles to say I am saying that belt saved my life so please don't forget to wear yours when hunting. It could save yours.

Glad to see your OK. I do a lot of trout fishing with waders. That is good advice. ;)

Sometimes we take for granted that everything is just another day hunting. Well sometimes it comes real close to being the last day of hunting to get our head back in the game. Glad you made it back and thanks for sharing.

Yep I did that last year while out with gauge.. Walking along and bam hit a sink hole and sunk..Good thing he was there..lol boy was I a cold SOB that morning...lol

I remember that morning buddy.
It's not fun taken a dive in the water & can't get your balance back.
Minus being frozen with the water you take on.

You should submit that story to Outdoor life "this happened to me" You might make a buck, and more important, share some safety information.
