What did I get into?

I’m attaching a picture of my arm. I have these super itchy bumps but they are ONLY on my left arm. Mainly forearm and a couple on my upper arm. My two older boys have them too but my oldest boy has them randomly all over. Chiggers? Plants? I just don’t know why it’s one arm. My boy’s is in his armpit and one on his stomach. I don’t know, but Benadryl cream is useless on it.

Don’t know my good sir but every human that spends any kind of time in the outdoors should have a couple of these bottles on STANDBY!! Spray the night before and you won’t get a single bug to come near you!! I spend MILES in the woods, during spring and dead heat of summer and have had ZERO issues using this stuff.

Well I’ve concluded it’s poison ivy or poison oak. Attaching updated pics. Just used some rubbing alcohol on them to dry them out. Guy at work said it’ll help. But I’m definitely getting that spray because ticks are insane here.

Haha! I have been. Been lathering it on multiple times a day. I don’t understand the delay. I was in the brush the Sunday before this past Sunday. So a week and a half ago. Seems crazy it getting this bad this long after contact. Gonna keep drying it out with alcohol and then calamine before bed.

When anyone comes in contact with the ivy, you have about 30 minutes to an hour before it's too late to wash the oil called urushiol using common soaps.
I grew up using old fashioned lye soap and have some bars in the bathroom as we speak because it's supposed to work if one is exposed and do not get it washed off within normal soap time frame. Haven't had it in years, but I can spot the plants from a half mile away and avoid them like the plague.

I was in the Boy Scouts back in the early 80’s and we had a camp out one weekend. Our scout master was cutting up some firewood and a bunch of us were carrying it to fire pit. No one noticed the poison ivy or poison oak that was all around the tree he was cutting. We sat around the camp fire and ate supper and then as we got ready to go to bed some of the guys started having trouble breathing and complained of their throats swelling up. The burning wood and poison ivy smoke was inhaled by several of the campers causing some major problems. A couple got bad enough that the weekend campout was cancelled and our parents came and picked everyone up. I think our scout master didn’t get his Camp Firewood Selection and Safety badge.
I’ll probably jinx myself but I’ve never had poison ivy or oak. My brother is just the opposite. I can walk through it and then just get near him and he’ll have it all over.

I get poison ivy and oak really bad. Last time I had it my legs swelled up so bad I had to go to the ER. I had to get a shot and IV. I also had to take steroid pills. I couldn't do anything for 3 days until the swelling went down.

Back when I was in boy scouts and at campouts, I'd get the ivy so bad that I'd have to go to the ER. I'd itch it at night while asleep and cause it to spread
It would finally cover my entire body. Nothing would stop it. Basically bathed in calamine lotion while using some stuff that required busting the blisters with a popsicle stick by scraping them and applying some sort of lotion. It worked ok, but it still had to run its course.
When in the mid teens, the Dr prescribed shots of hemoglobin I think it was. Really thick stuff that required shots in the butt. It would take about 5 minutes of slowly applying the shot as it was so thick and hurt like hell afterward.
As I remember, it took three weeks to get the full recommended dose of three shots.
It worked. I can get it sometimes, but it's very minor. Recognizing the plant is the most important part of prevention.

So I went in yesterday for a steroid shot and some steroid pills. It’s just continued to spread and get worse. When the doc looked at it she said “oh that’s not good” 😂.

It won't take long for those steroids to stop the itch and spread, but don't stop taking the pills until they are all done.

The white is just the calamine lotion residual after washing my arms a minute ago. But super crazy how much it’s spreading.
