I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am adequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

All those reasons are exactly why I carry too. Plus it is my constitutional right to protect my family. I refuse to become an inocent bistander, or allow others to fall because I was not prepared. Ive had people say to me over the years that I don't need to carry but a few years ago I was camping with my brother and his wife. We had a bear come into camp, the bear was not sattisfied with just the food and it charged me and my brother. I stopped its charging with my gun. Granted it did not kill it but it sure did make it reconsider its choices. It took off like a bolt of lightning had struck it in its head. Everyone in camp was greatful I had that gun on me. My brother and his wife have never been camping since. Im not sure if it was the bear or the gun but they stay out of the woods now. Real shame though. I used this incident to instill in myeself the need to carry, And am glad I was able to stop that bear. People may consider me a gun nut for having a gun on my person pretty much at all times but when time comes for me to use it they sure do appreciate it.

Your probably lucky some bleeding heart didn't try to get you charged with something for having a gun in a camp ground. Lucky for you and your family you did.

It was off season and not in a camp ground per say. We were off the beaten path, In a National Forest
