I record a TV program called North American Trapper. Tonight's episode said that Tx recently completed a study of ground nesting birds like turkey, quail, etc.
It showed nest predatation mortality rates ranging from 59-67% with raccoons being the apex predator.
Keep those traps working year around if you want to see turkey, quail, pheasant and a host of other non game birds in your area.

Wish I lived closer to our property and year around would be it. 2 hours each way. I've got one food plot that we don't hunt over so will use it for raccoon traps during the archery season and not upset my other areas.

I’m 45 miles away from my hunting ground as well. Gets expensive checking traps. I keep cellular game cams on them so I don’t have to go until something is caught.

Good shooting with the old bolt action! One more nest saved.
driving past the neighbors this morning seen their dumpster was well beyond full and thought to myself boy the co’ns will have that scattered everywhere. My next thought was no they won’t they are full on my corn.
