I met a beautiful girl when I was 15 and I almost immediately fell in love and decided she was the one for me so knowing she liked knives I designed (in my head) a small belt knife using a morakniv laminated blade. The center is hard high carbon steel and the outside is softer steel so it's tough and holds a good edge. The handle I pictured was black micarta with a silver wire inlay spiral from one end to the other.

Well now I'm 28 and I have been married to that beautiful girl for 9 years and I finally built the knife. I might end up making a second one because some things aren't as perfect as I pictured but it's pretty good for the first knife handle I've ever made and the second silver inlay I've ever done (the first was this morning. Lol)

So here's the knife 13 years in the making.
The handle is a very hard black wood (I forgot the name) because I discovered inlay into micarta would be more difficult and the wood looks pretty darn perfect anyway.

Well I haven't made much progress. I ran out of steel wool so that stopped me from doing the final coat for a while. I finally got some and did that a couple nights ago. Now I need to order some leather and make a sheath for it or talk my sister-in-law into making it.

Well this project has been very slow but I just ordered all the stuff to make the sheath. Or at least all the stuff I could think of. I got a shoulder of vegetable tanned leather, a pack of leather sewing needles, and some deer sinew.
After hours of research I couldn't find a sheath pattern I liked so I'm going to make my own. I'll be basing the general style of it off of the sheath on the knife I bought from Mike Miller.

On a happier note, I have been missing my collection of wilderness whey magazines since I had to get rid of them in 2014 when I moved here. So I just spent the money and ordered a bound copy of the whole collection.
