In situations such as this I like to use a certain old saying that’s near and dear to me and that is “they can kiss my grits” if they think I’m getting this vaccine. I’ve had enough experimental shots and stuff over the years from the military, some of which I had serious side effects from and even hospitalized. I don’t believe I’ve gotten a flu shot since I retired. We have had over 200 positive cases between staff and inmates at work and that number is increasing. I’ve had direct contact with positive cases over a dozen times. I just had my 8th negative test as well. I’ll continue on doing things as I have been and I’ll let someone else have my dose.

 

I will not take the vaccine for I too am like Bull. I have been poked and prodded too many times myself in military. I think after all those vaccinations I am ammune to everything.

 

Since I asked the question, I'll go ahead and voice my position. I plan to decline the vaccine, at least initially. I don't trust the science. Leaded paint and asbestos was a good idea too, let alone a rushed and poorly researched vaccine.

If they can establish a track record, good results in both efficiency and safety, say 6-12months worth, I'll start thinking about getting the vaccine.

My brother is severely brain damaged as a result of an allergic reaction to his pertussis shot a child and our family physician urged my parents to not have me vaccinated in case I too had the same reaction. I've had to get physician waivers my entire life to go to school and college because I never got meningitis vaccine or a lot of the others you're supposed to have. Now technically, my job may require me to get it and if they do, I'll have to think really long and hard about it before I render my decision.

 

On a side note the Covid is changing almost daily. I looked at being free of high temperature as a good sign. I talked to two friends yesterday and they and their wives have tested positive. One said he takes his temperature twice a day and he was 97.8 as a highest. Only thing common now is loose your sense of smell and taste for a while. Runny nose and a cough they also share with fatigue doing simple tasks. None o the 4 had any Temperature at all.

 

During the human testing, zero people have had bad results. Zero have died.
In two of the human tests by different labs, the testing was stopped because one person in each test came up with complications. It was determined the two people that developed complications that had issues while taking the vaccine was not related to the vaccine and the testing was allowed to proceed by the FDA.

I’m in the age group that is most at risk and have a son that is disabled in a wheelchair. He is at major risk.
My original thinking was that there are 75 million Biden voters that need to take it before I do but looking at the test results I’ve mellowed and looked at the risk factors for my age group.
I’ll take it when available.

 

I'll try not to be too political here...but we are talking about a vaccine that is for an illness with (aside from the elderly...which have an additional health risk for every major illness) a extremely high recovery rate.

Wear your masks...shut your business down for just a while...report your neighbors for violations...take this (potentially mandatory) vaccine. Don't celebrate the holidays with your family in large groups...etc...

This is way more about control than an illness. Unfortunately many, many people will gladly exchange freedom for a sense of security.

I'm not one of those people. This is not an attack towards anyone on here either.

 

The thing with a vaccine is that’s it’s voluntary. Some don’t take flu shots and that’s ok. They are voluntary as well.
Government mandates about masks, and lockdowns are not voluntary and are an affront to our freedoms.
The original countrywide lockdown did nothing to “flatten the curve”.
It only wrecked our economy. Get ready for another lockdown in January.

 

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I hope that the vaccinations stay voluntary.

Not an anti-vaxxer. My wife is a Veterinarian, and my mother was a Hemotologist with a background in micro-biology. 21 years in the Marines and I've been shot up with everything possible.

What I am is anti-government mandating what I do while they are pissing on me and telling me it's raining.

I did a tour in a small room in the basement of the Pentagon a few years ago...after being in that kind of environment...my trust in how big Gov operates was shattered. It's the main reason I moved to the country after I retired, and not into some cozy GS-14 job in the beltway.

I trust bulls more, and that ain't no bull.

 

I used to trust the government to do the right thing for the electorate until the internet came about and I found out how politically biased the media is and how the politicians are so corrupt.

 

I would venture a guess and say with my job i will be one of the first to be offered it.

 

Most likely. I think the pecking order is supposed to be Nursing homes, 1st responders, medical staff, elderly with comorbidities, elderly at age groups and then who knows.
We may have a member that has knows more about it.

 

Wife is a RN at St. Anthony's. I'll see what she knows and update here if anything of merit. She has to take every immunization known to man so sure this one is coming soon. I guess a lot depends on how many vaccinations are made available. But, it's great news! Wish it had happened prior to the election.

 

Not taking it. Had covid and got over it. No worse than the flu. I feel sorry for the people they send to my house to give it to me and the people who come look for those people. F**k the government. Look at the current situation our country is in. Its obvious that there are some evil people running the world. The elite have very sinister plans for our great land it doesn't include us riding along. They would've been done with their plan if Hilary had won in 16. You can look for another pandemic to follow this one. Covid was a test run so they could see how it worked

My brother in law and his cousin, my golfing buddies, both have come down with Covid. The cousin had to be transported to a hospital in Arkansas and my B-I-L is still at home but getting worse. I haven't been around either in over 3 wks so I think I dodged a bullet.

 

I had my 9th COVID test (7th mandated) done this morning. Our state director said that when the vaccine comes out we will likely be mandated to get it. It’s already causing an uproar as our HR department said if our job requires it then we will be mandated to get it just like having to get tested and wear masks. Already had a few terminated for refusal to wear masks. If we refuse the vaccine then our jobs can be terminated. Our watch commander last night took an formal poll and some 50%+ of our shift said they wouldn’t get it. I think we had 43 officers on shift last night. We fully lock down and mandate OT with anything under 32 officers.

 

Sounds like it's time to find another line of work Bull or roll up that sleeve and take your government poison.

 

County Mounties hiring but I’m too damn old to go through another academy. We shall see what happens. I know I’m not wanting to move again.

 

What's interesting to me is, per ADA and EEOC: legally, an employer cannot require you to take a COVID test for your job. ADA and EEOC have already released statements on this earlier this year. That's like requiring you to take an HIV test for your job, same thing. I've already done the research and I've barked up the tree for the Commissioner of Labor in OK to release some statement. We have people showing up to our testing sites once a week, every week "for their jobs", unnecessarily and it is clogging up the queue for people who actually need testing.

That said, all employers in the US can require their employees to provide proof of vaccination or threaten termination.

Just to clarify, the context of which I am mentioning the COVID testing required by employers is blanket testing, where all employees are simply sent for or request to be tested with no medical basis or otherwise. I know of several employers who wanted to start "random" COVID testing of their staff, can't do that.

 

We run 100% and random testing.

 

What i don't understand is we don't do this type of testing for the flu and covid is less lethal than the flu.

 

Well. I’ve held my wife in my arms and watched her suffocate from lack of oxygen. While this was before COVID it’s something I’ll never recover from. In the past 2 months I’ve lost a SIL a first cousin and another of my first cousins lost his healthy 31 year old daughter. This was after she spent 35 days in the hospital. All from the COVID. Thing is I don’t guess I’ve ever known anyone in my family to die of the flu. Call me a coward or whatever you want but give me the shot. I’d take it today if I could.

 

For 37yrs, I've taken vaccinations in the military, all thru grade school I've been vaccinated. And now, with my wife in a very vulnerable situation with her health, I believe I'll be taking the vaccine when made available. I couldn't live with myself if I was the one that she caught the virus and dies from.

With all that being said, it's your choice. Only you know your situation/health/risk factor and it should be your choice.

 

We are now in waiting mode all around. The mom of 3 of our foster kids came back positive and they had a visit last Friday. I had a test on Tuesday for work. Wife’s at children’s hospital in Denver with are 4th foster kid and had a test done this morning.
