Saturday my son went to the Great American outdoor show in Harrisburg, PA. I found this incredible show when I was working in DC some years ago. It is huge. I highly recommend it if you are ever in the area.

Late Saturday evening my son texted me and said he picked up some brochures. That's it. What the heck?
Sunday morning as we are driving to church, a text come in from my son and of course i am driving and can't read it. When we get to the parking lot I open it and text says, "Bear Hunt, Manitoba, August September". Jane says hurry up up, we're late. I fire off a quick text, "Yep!"
After church I check my text and the kid has sent me full details. We hunt the first week of September with Sandy River Outfitters – Manitoba Bear Hunts – Canada Trophy Spring & Fall Bear Hunts w/ Fishing in Manitoba.
Then the wife said...
Dear loving practical wife points out how I have been having issues with my 15 year old knee replacement and I may need knee revision surgery. Will my knee be ready?
I have spent the morning with google learning all about knee revision surgery. Google is not helpful. It's the internet. For every question on the internet there are several different answers, pro, con, indifferent and what the hell are you talking about.
So I told my son I may be a bit lame. He checked and they can put me in a ground blind with short walk in. Done deal.
I have a couple of rifles I had been working with for the Cape Buffalo hunt I to had to cancel . 577 NE might be a bit of over kill for bears even the big Blackies found in Manitoba. Either of the two 500 BPE's would work just fine. The Greener Martini is a neat gun. But the Westley Richards patent 1869/1871 is a classic old gun from the early days of cartridge rifles in the Golden age of Indian continent hunting. This was a formidable Tiger cartridge, it shouldn't have a problem with bears.
And just to cover all bases, I mentioned to the wife that the rifle she got me for Christmas would be perfect for this hunt.
The only response from her, was a smile, and the comment, "GO!"
